Whole Year Progress

Throughout this year, I have grown a lot in the areas of reading writing, communication, and thinking.  At the beginning of the year, all I really wanted to do was get better at writing.  Now, at the end of the year, I know that my writing has, in fact, improved, and I want to go into a job involving writing.

I do think I grew in the areas of writing and communication better than anything.  When I was coming into this class, I knew that it was the year of speeches, and I was nervous.  The last speech we did was persuasive, and I found myself not nearly as nervous as I was for our introductory speech at the beginning of this year.  I have grown more confident speaking in front of people.   I have also grown in the area of writing.  At the beginning of the year, I could barely get to 2 pages in my story, and now, I have a 23 page story under my belt.  I also know that I want to go into something with writing for something I want to do for the rest of my life.

While I’ve improved in these areas, I think an area where I can get better is reading.  When I read, I tend to skim and not absorb all the details.  While I’ve gotten a lot better with this since the beginning of the year, there is always room for improvement.  I really enjoy reading, and if I didn’t skim as much as I did, I think I would enjoy the books a lot more.

I credit my improvement in these areas mostly to Mrs. Jank.  She really helped me grow and gave me good advice.  She also gave assignments that were worth doing and weren’t just time wasters.
